Your information and how we look after it

Notice version 2026-08-v1 ยท Last updated 21 August 2026

The short version (for everyone)

  • We don't ask for your real name. You pick a nickname, and that's what everyone sees.
  • We ask your date of birth only so we can show you things right for your age. We never show it to anyone.
  • No adverts, no trackers. Nobody buys or sees information about you. Ever.
  • If a parent or carer links to your account, you'll always see a sign telling you they can view your progress - and who they are.
  • You can ask us to delete everything about you, now or when you're older. It really goes away.
  • Questions? Ask a grown-up to email privacy@kidsintech.example.

The full version (for grown-ups)

What we collect
Email address, chosen nickname, date of birth (children only, for age-appropriate design and the age-13 consent transition), and the learning activity the platform generates: enrolments, lesson progress, quiz and assignment results, certificates, points and badges, event registrations, and guardian links.
What we deliberately don't collect
Real names of children, photos, location, device fingerprints, or any third-party advertising and analytics identifiers. There are no trackers on this site.
Why we're allowed to use it (lawful bases)
Providing the service a family signed up for (contract), keeping children safe and the platform secure (legitimate interests, assessed against the ICO Children's Code), and parental consent for under-13s via the guardian-registers-child flow (UK GDPR Article 8).
Who can see a child's activity
The child; instructors, for work submitted to their course; a guardian the child linked using a family code - with a persistent on-screen indicator shown to the child; and our staff where necessary for support and safety. Certificates are verifiable by code at a public URL that shows the nickname only.
How long we keep it
While the account is active. Families can delete the account at any time, and children keep the right to erasure into adulthood - deletion removes personal data from our systems, not just from view.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, and objection - exercised by emailing privacy@kidsintech.example. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
